When Patients Become Family

Testimonials

We talk a lot about helping people recover. That’s real. But sometimes a patient comes along who reminds you that what’s happening here goes way beyond the treatment itself.

Jill and Becky are two of those patients. Different situations, same thread: trust built over years of showing up and actually caring.

Jill: Four Years, Multiple Battles, One Constant

Jill has been coming to see us for over four years. In that time, she’s dealt with some genuinely tough stuff: neurologic challenges, knee issues, the kind of setbacks that make you wonder whether things are going to get better.

But Jill never really wavered. And a lot of that comes down to the relationship she’s built with her care team, especially Physical Therapist Assistant, Ali Hartman.

“They helped me do things I didn’t think I’d get back.” ~Jill

When you watch the two of them together, it’s obvious. There’s a comfort level that only comes from time and trust. Jill isn’t just going through the motions. She’s working with someone who genuinely knows her, gets what she’s been through, and understands what matters to her.

She calls us family. And honestly? When you hear her say it, you believe her. That’s not something patients say because it sounds nice. That’s what happens when people actually feel it.

Becky: She Saw It Work for Her Mom. Then She Came Too.

Becky’s story actually starts before she was ever a patient here. It starts with her mom.

She watched her mom go through therapy at Buffalo Rehab Group more than once. Each time, the same outcome: her mom got better and got her life back. So when Becky needed care after two parotidectomies (surgery involving the salivary glands on each side of her neck), there was really only one place she was going.

“I’ve seen what they did for my mom… I knew they’d help me too.” ~Becky

Her recovery meant working through scar tissue and post-surgical tightness in her neck. Not a simple rehab process. But she trusted her team, did the work, and got through it.

And she’s still here. She’s since come back for other things, including knee care, and has continued working with the same people she’s come to rely on.

What gets us about Becky’s story isn’t just that she’s a loyal patient. It’s because her loyalty began with what she witnessed happening to someone she loves. That’s a different kind of trust. That’s trust based on proof.

What These Stories Are Really About

Look, we’re proud of the clinical work we do. The outcomes matter. The research-backed approaches matter. All of it matters.

But Jill and Becky aren’t coming back year after year because of a protocol. They’re coming back because of the people. Because of how they feel when they’re here. Because somewhere along the way, this place stopped being “the clinic” and started being something they actually count on.

That’s what we’re working toward every day. Not just helping people recover but being the kind of place people trust with the big stuff.

Whether it’s your first visit or you’ve been putting it off way too long, we’d love to help. That’s what we’re here for.
